Meet Joe & Penny Bennett (and Poppy)

Joe and Penny have been married for 40 years and share a love for the Woods of Maine. With a passion for the outdoors, hosting, and a love for people, opening Great Pond Family Camps in 2019 was a dream come true.

Joe was homegrown in Maine while Penny had a proper southern upbringing in Virginia. They met while serving in the Coast Guard shortly after boot camp. Joe and Penny have lived all over the world, but the beauty of the woods of Maine have called them for years.

We can’t leave Poppy out! Poppy is a spunky golden doodle who loves to swim and run! Her best friend is a chipmunk and she works hard to be a very good camp dog.
